Dear Friends of Eric Bouchat,
Election season is upon us which is the perfect opportunity to provide everyone with some updates. But before I dive into the news, I would like to take a minute and reflect. The last few years have been interesting to say the least and I personally would like to thank Commissioner Bouchat for his tireless effort representing his fellow Carroll County resident. Those of you who follow local government probably noticed that Commissioner Bouchat often delt with the wrath from his fellow commission who opposed him regardless of his stance. The irony is that he was the only Commissioner who listened to his constituents, went to job sites and talked to county employees, asked the county staff members for feedback, met with small business owners, provided feedback to his colleagues, and fulfilled his obligation as County Commissioner… working for the people. There is no way this could have been easy for him, but his efforts did not go unnoticed. I am proud of what he accomplished, and I am also very grateful to have been part of that adventure.
Moving on to his next endeavor, Commissioner Bouchat is running for the Maryland House of Delegates. You have probably heard about the recent court challenges to the Maryland General Assembly and Congressional redistricting maps. This created confusion for candidates and voters regarding districts and voting. This also pushed back filing deadlines and election dates. Now, we are in the new 5th legislative district, which is a three-delegate at large district with only one incumbent, Delegate Rose. Delegate Krebs is retiring, and Delegate Shoemaker is running for State's Attorney.
Let’s get Commissioner Bouchat elected as Delegate for the 5th legislative district!
Friends of Eric Bouchat will be hosting a Bouchat for Delegate History Happy Hour at Sykesville Station on Tuesday, May 24th from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Tickets and sponsorships are available for purchase on the events page of the website or by scanning the QR code on the event flyer which is attached to this newsletter. A light fare will be served and there will be a private open bar on the back outdoor platform. If you have never been to Sykesville Station, the view of the river is amazing! We will be auctioning Oriole’s tickets with a VIP parking pass (seriously awesome seats thanks to Southern Galvanizing!) Commissioner Bouchat is going to give a short and sweet local history lesson of Sykesville and the Train Station. There will also be a mini trivia game where we are giving away gift cards. We hope to see you on the 24th!
More information about polling locations and candidates can be found on the Carroll County Board of Elections website. Below are the updated dates for the Primary and General Elections along with the date for registering to vote or changing voter information,
Primary Election Day is set for July 19, 2022, 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. Early voting runs from July 7th thru 14th, 7:00 am to 8:00 pm.
We are working on adding a volunteer sign up form on the website. We will need help at polling locations and throughout the next few months. Yard signs are available through the Friends of Eric Bouchat website for those who would like to show their support. None of this could have been accomplished without the support from this wonderful community. Thank you all for your loyal support, your time and resources, contributions, and the hard work from each of you. We are truly blessed.
Lastly, yours truly, is running for the Carroll County Republican Central Committee. I figured that I was qualified after what I survived over the last four years of politics. Plus, once future Delegate Bouchat wins and heads to Annapolis, I will have more free time.
We have a very good chance to win this election, in spite of the last-minute uncertainty of the districts and change of election dates. It just adds to the fun and excitement of ultimately winning this election together.
Thank you,
Krista Schultz
